Are your patients brushing twice a day for two minutes each time?
If so, they could be wasting as much as 90 glasses of water a day!
In the United States alone, where 36 states will soon face water shortages, we’re literally pouring down the drain 27 Billion Glasses of clean, drinkable water every day, just brushing our teeth.
Next time you instruct your patients on how to brush, take an extra moment to ask them to join the campaign and turn off the tap when they follow your oral health advice. You’ll be doing your part to care for their health and for the health of our planet.
If you're seeing eight patients a day, you'll be making a huge difference.... 720 glasses of water a day!
Make a pledge to "Save 90 A Day!" and to instruct your patients to do the same! Add your voice to the growing chorus that believes every drop counts.
WATER: A Precious Resource
We know that water is essential to life, and makes up 70% of our bodies. But there seems to be so much of it, why is there a need to conserve in our homes and dental practices?
While it’s true that almost 80 percent of the Earth is covered with water, only three percent of that is fresh water, and less than one percent is available for human consumption. Most usable water already goes to creating electricity, running factories, and producing our food.
As the population increases worldwide, so does global water consumption. Many parts of the world are now reaching the limits of their supply. According to the U.N., given the current trends, “two out of every three people on earth will suffer moderate to severe water shortages in little more than two decades from now.” According to the World Water Council, nearly 1.1 billion people live without clean drinking water: that’s one out of every six people on the planet.
Conserving now is easy and can only help. A few places to start:
Fix leaky water faucets and toilets
Wash only full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine
Compost your vegetable and fruit waste instead using the disposal
" I spend virtually nothing on traditional marketing and 96% of my clients say they would definitely refer a family member or friend to my green practice. I see an average of 30-40 new clients every month and have saved thousands of dollars a year by operating an eco-friendly practice."
